Kenneth James Hore

February 11, 1946 — January 28, 2021

Kenneth James Hore cashed in his chips at RVH Barrie, weeks away from his 75th Birthday. At last reunited with his beloved Patricia Moran Hore. Their 1972 Vegas meeting of Elvis Presley was one of their greatest thrills and a story he liked to recount. Perhaps now they will run into him again. The Kings' picture was proudly displayed in their home alongside those of loved ones and their adored spaniels. Kenny's last tale was told on January 28, 2021 when he let the ER staff know he was ready and exactly how he wanted to go, peacefully, after declining health the last few years. He got his wish. Born on February 11, 1946 to Tom and Ruth (nee James). A loving upbringing in Brampton and Rexdale nurtured a well-mannered gentleman (most times) and a force to be reckoned with. Marrying his childhood sweetheart was his proudest achievement. Pat was beside him through his glory days and the quieter years until he lost her on Valentine's Day in 2017. A devoted husband and son, steadfast brother-in-law, loving uncle and cousin, true and loyal friend. He was also the life of the party, a sports aficionado and appointed Edgewood Patrol/Unofficial Marshal of Fun by those in his close-knit neighbourhood at Lake Simcoe. He died the way he lived, by his own rules. A true Kenny-ism was, if you said he couldn't, with a grin and twinkle in his eye he would make darn sure that he did. That quality made him successful in sales and his winning personality won him many lifelong friends. His career in sales took them from Rexdale to London, before settling in Innisfil. Ken went out of his way to stay in touch with everyone, from childhood to a new acquaintance. He will be missed by many, especially the local canines who would make daily stops at the Hore house for a pet and treat, knowing the cookie jar at the door was always full for them. Those who knew Kenny learned quickly that an evening or summer afternoon spent together would probably end with a hangover. The next day he would be found on his couch watching golf while you were out attending to your chores and yard work. Whether it was a backyard gathering at Lake Simcoe, the K of C in the London years, just married era of Rexdale, at Honey Harbour with the old gang, the Crooked Stick Annual Golf Tournament with the boys and even at the Hore/James Family Reunions in Georgetown. We all looked forward to those visits.  While he did love living it up any chance he got, he loved and cherished his family and friends more. Occasionally, you might be on the receiving end of one of his late evening nightcap calls that he'd always end with "love you, take care, talk soon".  He always had fun affectionately teasing those close to him, usually ending with a hug and much laughter..."Oh Kenny" was a refrain heard at many memorable get togethers. The Pied Piper at family reunions and gatherings, children were drawn to "Mr. Kenny" and his big kid-at-heart spirit. Everyone he met along the way has a Kenny story, usually told while shaking with mirth at his (mis)adventures and hijinks. Who can ever forget the infamous Honeypot story!? Now those tales will be loving shared with tears and laughter amongst those of us lucky enough to have known him. Later this year, when circumstances allow, we will gather across from Kenny’s at the Dziedzic home on Big Cedar Point in Innisfil to celebrate his life. Until then raise a toast to a lucky guy, who was blessed with a life well lived. (In a glass please, no bottles, no ice). Cremation and arrangements entrusted to Innisfil Funeral Home. Interment will be held at a later date. If desired, memorial donations may be made to a cause close to his heart, the S.P.C.A. of Ontario or to a charity of your choice.
